Forward Diary

10th October - ‘Micah Sunday’ and Harvest Service.

October sees the start of two new sermon series:-

In the mornings: ‘Life as its meant to be lived’ - a six episode look at the life of Jesus in Mark’s Gospel.

@ ng7 ‘Hard questions and spiritual answers’ - a seven episode modern consideration of a very old book. ng7 presents an unexpurgated exploration of Ecclesiastes.

Sunday 31st October @ htl will be our all-age service [Transform] - the first Sunday in November (7th) @ htl is ‘service as usual’ (not all-age).

Sunday 31st October – Martin Kirkbride will be speaking at Colchester Military Prison again. God is doing some amazing stuff in the prison through Alpha. This is a really exciting opportunity for us to support Martin in his involvement.

New Comers Group - If you are new to the church, and not yet involved in a homegroup, Martin & Sharron will be hosting a ‘New Comers’ mid-week group starting in October - more details to follow.

Christmas is coming Conference

(sponsored by New Wine East Midlands)

We get back from summer breaks, survive the rigours of harvest suppers, then rapidly find that Christmas is rushing towards us. The most common strategy is to dust of what we did last year and why not – it probably went down very well. But how do we to stimulate fresh thinking, imaginative outreach, and creative worship, as well as capitalizing on the traditional?

One answer is to reserve 10am to 3.30pm Thursday 18th November in your diary. “Preparing for Christmas” is a one day resourcing conference, based at htl (holy trinity lenton), designed to refresh and inspire church leaders (and their teams) with fresh approaches to celebrating and sharing the Christmas message.

Details of arrangements, speakers, and how to book will be published in September, meanwhile do please pencil in the date. Martin Kirkbride.

Prayer Triplets

Now the summer holidays are behind us, why not get together on a regular basis one or two friends and become a ‘Prayer Triplet?’ We want to see the whole of Lenton and Dunkirk covered in prayer. If you already pray regularly with one or two others let us know and we will give you a specific area of Lenton or Dunkirk to pray for. See Alison Gardner to register your interest and get your map! The more we pray the more we’ll see answers to prayer and the more we’ll be inspired to pray!

Nottingham Marathon

will again be passing by htl on Sunday 12th September. Wouldn’t it be amazing to be church out there on the street! Wouldn’t it be brilliant to just give breakfast away to the spectators! Wouldn’t it be great to cheer on the runners. (Last year a group of runners dressed as a wedding party stopped outside htl and took photos on the church steps before continuing their marathon effort!) See diary.

Safety of our children and equipment

Please can we request that children (and adults!) don’t play around the AV control desk. But we do hope some of you may want to take an interest in the new kit or the technical set-up – speak to Aiden if you’d like to help with running the AV system.

NUCU faculty groups

The Nottingham University Christian Union is looking for recent and not so recent graduates of Nottingham University who can contribute to their Faculty Group meetings. For more info speak to Alison Duckers.
